Our newest Factory Reserve is now being roasted daily and if you haven't
picked up a bag at your nearest Stone Creek Coffee retail store you are truly
missin' out on something special. Our first Fair Trade Organic Bolivian coffee
is grown and picked in the mountainous area of Bolivia's Caranavi region. With a
sweet, carmelly aroma, this coffee's flavor suggests almonds and cocoa, while
maintaining a clean and balanced body.
The coffee is produced by the Villa Oriente Cooperative, a coffee growing group of 145 members founded in 1997. Grown at altitudes between 1400 and 1800 meters, this coffee is a mixture of typica and caturra strains of arabica beans.
Bolivia is not well known for its coffee production, however, it has recently benefited from the localization of drying and processing facilities, many of which are being built with the expertise of helpful Panamanian coffee growers and with financial assistance from USAID, an agency operated by the U.S. government to assist foreign countries recovering from disaster, seeking to escape poverty, and engaging in democratic reform. By raising the quality of the Bolivian coffee crop, USAID is helping to boost the wholesale price paid to Bolivia's coffee farmers, thus making coffee growing more financially attractive to the country's population.
