A few weeks ago I returned from an 8 day trip to Vitoria da Conquista, Brazil to visit the coffee farm and school that we support through the Brazilian coffee we purchase. The journey was a long one, 4 flights to get there and 4 flights to get home. The journey started with a 24 hour delay here in Milwaukee b/c an unnamed American (wink) airline mechanical problem. After the delay and 26 hours of travel we made it to Vitoria da Conquista - we were exhausted. The next day we drove 2.5 hours to the farm and school. Upon arrival we visited the school on the farm run by Socially Conscious Coffee. In the interest of keeping my blog post short I will not overwhelm you with info just yet, but the hugs we received from the students will forever make me think about coffee and coffee buying differently. We are lucky to be able to support the school through our green coffee sourcing. So, as you sip any of our specialty drinks made with espresso, remember behind every shot of espresso is a farmer, a family and some kids that give amazing hugs. More to come.....Eric
