SIP Slowly - A Reflection -

Last night, for the first time in the history of our company, every employee was in the same room at the same time. It was a great way to kick off our inaugural SIP Fest.
A few months back, our leadership group was meeting and the topic of staff communication came up. We realized that we needed to do a better job communicating what was happening in all parts of the company to the people that spend their entire work days talking to customers. We also realized that there are so many great ideas floating around our company that we needed a way to capture them all and put them to use. From that discussion, SIP Fest was born. Going forward, we will bring the entire company together two times per year for an evening of education, discussion and fun.
In my role, I have the pleasure of meeting all of our staff members during their Bean Classes. These classes teach new employees about the journey of coffee from crop to cup. I'm always amazed by the caliber of people we find to work in our stores and in our Factory. We somehow find the smartest, funniest, nicest, hardest working, engaging...the list goes on...people that want to be a part of our company. To see them all in one room, just blew me away. After our training and discussions, we had an opportunity to gather around some food and a few beers and just talk.
Nights like last night just reinforce for me why I love working at Stone Creek. I've found a place where my personal passions and professional responsibilities can run parallel with each other AND I get to share that journey with some of the most incredible people in the world.
