The Sinay Neves Family

Occupying a high altitude microclimate in the northern Brazilian state of Bahia, the Sinay Neves Coffee Farms extend across 850 acres of the finest coffee growing land in Brazil.

Blessed with a climate and a soil that are perfectly matched to the cultivation of high quality Arabica coffee, the Sinay Neves Farms produce the renowned Café Conquista coffee, a key component in Stone Creek's Green Bike Espresso.

In addition, the Sinay Neves family, in partnership with Socially Conscious Coffee, has spearheaded a number of socially beneficial directives in the area--a high, living wage, the SCC School, promotion of health, hygiene and proper nutrition, and the construction of a soccer field for the use of the farm s employees.

Among these initiatives, the SCC School, referred to as the Rural Educafe, is the strongest manifestation of Sinay Neves commitment. The Rural Educafe provides education, structure, and three square meals a day to the children of the Sinay Neves employees and to the children of neighboring coffee farms.

By supporting the education and nourishment of the community's children, Sinay Neves provides them with an opportunity to break the cycle of illiteracy and poverty that many coffee harvesters are powerless to escape. This school also offers night classes to the parents of these children, giving them a chance to escape the abysmal 90% illiteracy rate current among coffee harvesters in Brazil.

Of the permanent workers on the Sinay Neves coffee farm, nearly all of them utilize the Rural Educafe and its services, and this has led to an overall increase in the education, health, and nutrition of the surrounding community.

Thanks to the efforts of Sinay Neves and Socially Conscious Coffee, the coffee harvesters of this region will be able to rise above some of Brazil s more dismal statistics and create a more promising future for themselves and for their families.
