Our 2012 Fair Trade Organic Peru comes to us from the Pangoa Cooperative in the central Amazon region of Peru. Pangoa is made up of small coffee farmers cultivating coffee on 5-10 hectare plots.

The coop has dedicated the additional funds received through Fair Trade premiums to healthcare funds and scholarship programs. Since most farmers in Peru do not have access to health insurance, the health fund will loan money to members without charging interest for medical emergencies. The coop also schedules regular checkups for the entire Pangoa Community.

This coffee combines a medium body and a subtle brightness for a nicely balanced cup. Hints of chocolate and notes of orange make this a unique coffee with great character.
